The Department of Science and Technology (DOST) officially launched the Advanced Manufacturing Center (AMCen) CALABARZON on September 1, 2025, at the DOST Laguna Building in Laguna State Polytechnic University (LSPU) San Pablo City.

The event featured the ribbon cutting, unveiling of the AMCen marker, blessing rites, and a facility tour and demo. It also brought together leaders from DOST, academe, local government, and the private sector, underscoring the region’s push to advance innovation and digital transformation.

Keynote Highlights

DOST Secretary Renato U. Solidum Jr. delivered the keynote message, emphasizing AMCen CALABARZON’s role in shaping the future of Philippine industries through advanced manufacturing, 3D printing, and research collaboration.

DOST-CALABARZON Regional Director Dr. Emilita P. Bagsit and LSPU President Dr. Mario R. Briones also gave messages highlighting the importance of academia-industry-government linkages.The program further showcased the MoA Signing for Technological Readiness and Innovation through Advanced Manufacturing in the Philippines (TRIAMPh), solidifying partnerships among DOST, LSPU, Makerlab Electronics, Puzzlebox 3D, and other stakeholders

Among the key partners who expressed their message of support was Engr. Mike Jassen T. Sy, President of Makerlab Electronics (Jassen Harris Industries Corp.).

In his speech, Mr. Sy highlighted Makerlab’s commitment to inclusive innovation, noting that AMCen CALABARZON is more than just a facility — it is about empowering industries and making technology truly impactful and accessible. He further expressed Makerlab’s dedication to supporting DOST’s four pillars: human well-being, wealth creation, wealth protection, and sustainability.

He closed his message with a strong call for collaboration and hope:

“Sama-sama nating likhain ang kinabukasan mula rito sa CALABARZON, at gawing tunay na Agham na Ramdam para sa bawat Pilipino.”
