Jassen Harris Strengthens Academe with NI Philippines at JourNI: Engineer the Future

On September 26, 2025, Jassen Harris Industries Corporation successfully held its much-anticipated academic summit, JourNI: Engineer the Future, at Rizal Park Hotel. The event brought together leaders, educators, and innovators from across the country to reimagine the future of engineering education in the Philippines.

With the theme “Fueling Future Innovators with Frontier Technology for Global Resonance,” the summit served as a platform to showcase advanced tools from National Instruments (NI) and solutions from partner principals. The goal was clear: to strengthen collaboration between industry and academia while preparing the next generation of engineers for a rapidly evolving technological landscape.

Guiding the Day’s JourNI

The summit opened with a warm welcome from Mr. Romano Quilloy, Managing Director of Jassen Harris Industries Corp., who served as the official host. His engaging presence set the tone for the day, guiding participants seamlessly through the sessions and ensuring an energizing flow of discussions.

The program began with keynote remarks from Mr. Mike Jassen Sy, President of Jassen Harris Industries Corp. In his speech, he emphasized the company’s role in bridging academe and industry, unveiling three key strategies—Pricing Integrity, Door-to-Door (D2D) Shipping, and E-Commerce Expansion. These initiatives, set to roll out over the next year, are designed to strengthen partnerships with the academe and deliver NI solutions more effectively. This strategic vision reflects the company’s mission to empower the academe while making cutting-edge technologies more accessible and sustainable.

Insights from NI Philippines

A key highlight of the day was a discussion on NI’s academic journey, featuring Mr. Jack Aguilar, Site Leader of NI Philippines, alongside Mr. Mike Jassen Sy and Mr. Romano Quilloy. The conversation reflected on NI’s humble beginnings in the Philippines, the challenges of integrating technology into classrooms, and the pivotal role of LabVIEW in bridging traditional learning with modern engineering practices.

Mr. Aguilar also shared NI’s vision for the future of academia: rebuilding workforce development partnerships, driving accelerator programs, fostering strategic research collaborations, and integrating rapidly advancing technologies like AI into curricula.

To close the discussion, Mr. Sy reinforced Jassen Harris’ commitment to this shared mission:

“Exactly. That is why we are here. We will help NI achieve their goal of bringing cost-effective, high-quality, industry-grade systems to our esteemed deans and faculty.”

NI’s Continuing Impact: A Testimonial

Following the discussion, Mr. Ryan Balang, Senior Field Applications Engineer at NI Philippines, shared his testimonial on how NI supports both industry and academe. He highlighted NI’s role in academic empowerment, industry readiness, and collaborative growth—underscoring that NI’s investment in the academe is inseparable from its mission to serve industry.

Interactive Engagement

To keep the energy high, the program continued with a lively Mentimeter game hosted by Mr. Romano. Participants answered fun yet insightful questions based on the day’s sessions. Excitement filled the room as winners received special prizes, reinforcing both the learnings and the spirit of engagement that defined JourNI 2025.

A key feature of the event was its two specialized learning tracks:

Track 1: NI Academic Offerings – Featured sessions on intelligent test automation with LabVIEW and Nigel AI led by Mr. Ryan Balang, along with digital design to embedded systems, prototyping 5G and beyond with NI USRP, and building smart systems using DAQ—all facilitated by Engr. Paulo Arcenal, Engr. Desiree Roque, and Engr. Jessica Cortez.

Track 2: Broader Academic Solutions from Partner Principals – Showcased complementary innovations such as 3D printing technologies with MakerLab, IC testing for semiconductor readiness with IECUBE, and digital design to embedded systems with Digilent.

Academic Showcase Booths

Beyond the plenary discussions and technical tracks, attendees also had the opportunity to explore booths that showcased a wide range of academic solution offerings from partner principals. IECUBE presented its STS-3100 for IC Testing, while Quanser drew attention with the QCar 2 Demo Kit for autonomous vehicle research.

National Instruments (NI) featured the CompactDAQ (cDAQ) with LabVIEW and the mioDAQ with FlexLogger, complemented by Digilent’s display of the Analog Discovery 3 and Analog Discovery Studio Max.

TwinSimulate by Vista1 Labs showcased its innovative simulation-based training platforms, while Bitlismen highlighted its power labs ecosystem that delivers flexible trainer platforms for renewable energy generation to grid protection and SCADA.

Dreamcatcher Asia impressed participants with its Antenna and Propagation systems as well as Embedded System and AI learning modules.

MakerLab captured interest with the Bambu Lab H2D and A1 Combo for 3D printing and prototyping, and Siglent completed the lineup with its high-performance instruments, the SDS5000X Oscilloscope and the SNA5000A Vector Network Analyzer.

These showcases provided participants with interactive, hands-on experiences that bridged classroom learning with real-world applications, further reinforcing JourNI’s mission of empowering the academe through accessible, industry-grade technologies.

A Major Milestone for Jassen Harris

The event concluded with closing remarks from Mr. Mike Jassen Sy, who expressed gratitude to all attendees, partners—especially those who braved the challenging weather—and speakers, particularly Mr. Jack Aguilar and Mr. Ryan Balang, for their invaluable contributions.

In a major announcement, Mr. Sy revealed that JourNI will now be an annual event, solidifying Jassen Harris’ role in leading meaningful dialogues and initiatives for engineering education. This commitment marks the beginning of a tradition where educators and industry leaders can regularly converge to share ideas, explore innovations, and inspire the next generation.

Looking Ahead

Despite weather challenges, JourNI 2025 shone as a beacon of collaboration and innovation. With the announcement of its yearly return, Jassen Harris and NI Philippines are set to continue building bridges between academia and industry—fueling future innovators, shaping a brighter tomorrow, and engineering the future together.
